Vintage Bling: Broaches

Word from the runways is that Broaches are the must have accessory of the fall '06. While many, new money Hip-Hip rapscallions are pimping gaudy, common gold chains, the fashion elite are returning to the look of old money.

Broaches portray a sense of individual style, and prestige. Broaches will help you make the statement that you aren't like everyone else and that you won't be stuffed into anybodies category.

Broaches can also accentuate your positive and distract from your negatives. If you feel that your arms are too fat, pin a Broach on your blouse, as far away from your arms as you feel fit.

Broaches are also excellent ice breakers in social settings. How many times have you heard someone say "I love your pin"?. Trust me, this happens all the time with women.

In Business, the right Broach can be used as a credibility builder. For instance if you've got a meeting with a client who has a particular affinity for birds, you could wear a Bird Broach pinned to your blazer. Of course, the client would feel like you share the same interest as them - and you never said anything to that effect.

I'm sure you can imagine the many ways that Broaches can make the holidays more festive. can you say Mistletoe Broach?

So start shopping now for some unique Broaches so by the time Cosmo and Glamour start printing their 'what's hot for fall issues', you'll have it all pinned up (yes, pun intended).

80's Comback?

Well I fear that we can't stop the inevitable. The decade that gave us Reagan-nomic's, Junk Bonds and Crack Cocaine is coming back. Yes, fashion from the 1980's is boldly making a comback. They say that fashion repeats itself every 20 years.

So I guess I should break out my guy-eye liner, hair mouse, and eye shadow. I guess, if I'm really going to be fashionalble, that I'll have to go to the thrift store and buy some skinny leather ties until Macy's and Saxs' start selling them again.

Personally, I hated 1980's fashion, but my vanity refuses to be unstylish.

What did you love or hate about the 1980's fashions. Comment below
